Verity

Last week I felt the urge to create a little bear, not quite my smallest yet, but pretty close at just 11" in height...

I left it rather late to take photographs yesterday evening and wasn't happy with my first attempts as they were grey and grainy, so I popped out into the garden in my dressing gown this morning, to make the most of the light. These pics are much better and now you can see how pretty her pale pink fur actually is.

Verity and Peachy

Little Verity is now available for adoption from my website ... her big sis Peachy is also available!

:-)

Update: Peachy and Verity have been adopted.

The day we caught the train

Happy Easter Everyone!

After being unwell for a few days last week (the perils of looking after small children) it was lovely to take a walk on Bank Holiday Monday and have some fun with my family in beautiful Mote Park.

My Grandson has been eager to see the miniature trains in action for quite a while, so when we found out they were running over the weekend, of course that's where we headed! We all had so much fun riding the trains ... in fact, I think the grown-ups enjoyed their rides almost as much as our very excited four year old!

Wisteria Tweedy

On this beautiful Easter Bank Holiday, I am delighted to introduce a new Tweedy Ted to my website..

Wisteria Tweedy

Wisteria Tweedy is a new size of Tweedy at 16" ... a lovely, cuddly, snugglesome size in fact.  I have used a beautiful lilac herringbone Harris Tweed for this lovely teddy bear and contrasted with pretty pink. As with all my bears, Wisteria Tweedy is five way hardboard jointed and has glass eyes (yes, just like my mohair bears!) These bears are so fun to create and with the wonderful array of tweed available, design possibilities are endless!

If you would like to find out more about my Tweedy Teds, please pop over to www.allbearbypaula.com

Wishing you all a very Happy Easter.

:-)

Update: Wisteria Tweedy has been adopted!

Apple Blossom

Spring blossom is always one of my favourite times. The countryside is absolutely beautiful here at the moment and if you have a creative leaning, it can be particularly inspiring!

20" Apple Blossom

This is 'Apple Blossom', a celebration of our English Spring. She was adopted yesterday and will be flying out to the US to meet her new owner. Thank you so much if you went to visit her on my website and sorry if you missed her. I am looking forward to starting work on my next teddy bear very soon ... and in the meantime, let's all enjoy the Spring blossom!

The journey from bunny slippers..

Wishing my lovely son a very Happy 34th Birthday today!

The journey from bunny slippers to adulthood seems to happen in the blink of an eye!  Watching my son grow into the loving family man he is today, has made me more proud than I will ever be able to put into words.

Happy Birthday to you Boy,
With all my love always,
Your super-proud Muva xxx

Commissioning a Tweedy Ted

I was recently commissioned to make a Tweedy Ted. My customer chose her favourite Harris tweed fabrics and hey presto, this fab new bear emerged!

I think the plain dark teal made a super contrast for the snazzy pinks and purple stripe ... he has been such a fun bear to create! He doesn't have a name just yet because his new owner is going to name him herself. Commissions can be such a lovely collaboration! This week, I plan to return to my mohair stash. I'm not yet sure exactly what I will make, but am looking forward to finding out as my thoughts unfold ...

Tweedy Ted in progress..

In other news, my weekend flew by in a flurry of birthday celebrations for Mum, housework, shopping, dog walks and a trip to the theatre with my daughter, to see 'Avenue Q' (an adult puppet show which made my toes curl)!

My latest collection of mohair and cloth bears,
sitting in a quiet corner of my workroom

After such a busy weekend, I don't mind telling you, I am a little tired today, so after a run down to the playing fields with Polly, Betty and her ball, I will be very much looking forward to a quiet afternoon in my workroom planning new bears ... and of course, introducing them to you, when they come to life!

My latest Tweedy Teds

If you think you might like to commission a teddy bear, either a Tweedy Ted or a mohair bear, I would love to hear from you. To begin with, all you need to do is visit my website, click on the 'Commissions' page and drop me a line outlining the type of teddy bear you have in mind and his size. I will have a think, source fabric suggestions and start the process of planning your bear with you. It really is as simple as that to have an artist designed teddy bear created especially for you!

I hope to hear from you soon x

Mums the word

Mothering Sunday was a rather chilly affair, but we were determined to celebrate in beautiful Doddington Place Gardens, no matter the weather.

I loved having a special afternoon to explore these magical gardens with four generations of my family. My Grandson had a whale of a time hiding in formal flowerbeds and climbing trees while we explored the grounds and it was lovely to spend time with my own grown-up children in such a beautiful setting; not to mention two of my sisters, a niece, brother-in-law and of course, our own Mum ...who couldn't have been more delighted to have four generations of her extensive family gathered together on Mother's Day!

To the cynics who deride such celebratory days as 'crass commercialism', I say try telling that to a mother who raised five daughters, is a proud Grandmother to ten Grandchildren ranging in age from eleven to thirty six and is also a Great Grandmother to four very lively little 'uns!

Happy Mother's Mum.
It was lovely to share our special day.
