New Arrival!

I have a some lovely news to share! I was made an Auntie again on Saturday! My youngest sister safely gave birth to a healthy little girl and so after a dash to Hobbycraft, I have been able at last, to begin my baby knitting.

Naturally, I didn't want to start knitting until I knew what flavour the baby was and my sister didn't want to spoil her surprise by finding out early, so it's been a guessing game for quite some time!

I selected some delicate lilac 4ply and some pretty double knit in white with a little sparkly thread running through ... oh and the buttons! They are so cute too! Dainty lilac flower buttons and for the white cardigan, little pink buttons with bumble bees in the centre! Such fun!
I haven't met my new niece yet, but I'm hoping to very soon; in the meantime, I must get back to work so that I can spend some time knitting in my armchair this evening, so that I have the cardigans ready for my visit. There's something very special about hand knitting to welcome a new baby into the family, don't you think?

  1. Aaaaaaaah, an ickle bitty pink bundle of scrumptiousness. I do so love baby girls. :0) Knitting however, I do NOT love! I once knitted my youngest daughter a multi coloured scarf for her 5" high Tigger. This scarf took me many hours and when completed
(about 6" x 1")it was so stiff it could be folded into a concertina... I kid you not!!! make sure you show us the little cardi's when they're done won't you? :0)

  2. Congratulations Paula! Oh I'd love to learn to knit. How wonderful that you have so many lovely talents!

  3. awwww....congratulations Paula!!!! What wonderful news!! Another little girl in your family! Are there any boys apart from your son?
I look forward to seeing some pics of your little niece when you get to meet her!!
    Samantha xx

  4. Congratulations Paula. Oh, I love to knit for babies too. Love the elephant of yours in the basket.

  5. Congratulations on the new pink addition to the family!!! I so envy you!! Oh, to have a little something to coo over and make little pretties for....sigh. Do post a picture of your little knitting project when you're finished. I don't knit but I surely admire the handiwork!!

    Warmest bear hugs, Aleta

  6. Thank you all for your good wishes! I'm absolutely delighted for my sister and her family. I'll be happy to share pics of my knitting when it's finished .. I'm getting there!

Samantha, my son is the only boy in the entire family! I now have eight nieces and he's feeling completely outnumbered!

  7. Congratulations Paula, Can't want to see pictures of your niece.
Big congratulations to your sister too, she must be so happy right now.

    Vicki xx
